Structuring
the Individual Project Days
First of all, a few words about the composition of the group: The
students came together from different grade levels in the computer
workshop and worked daily, except for Wednesdays, for two to three
hours on the project (ten hours per week in total).
Every hour began with their journal. On one hand, it was a reminder
of the project, and on the other hand it served as constant practice
in order to routinize working with the camera and the computer.
On each project day, the students shot documentary photos with
a digital camera for the journal. They alternately photographed
each other while they worked. Each student sought an appropriate
photo from the previous day and printed it out. This photo then
went into the journal. Furthermore, next to the date, a brief sentence
with a description of the previous day was written. Thus, in addition
to the project goals, reading and writing were also promoted.
After twenty-eight days, each of the students now possessed a comprehensive
documentation of his/her work, which grew during the course of
the project. |
